Nihongo Dekimasu

Nihongo Dekimasu is a Japanese show to help beginners learn Japanese. I don't think it would be possible to learn Japanese just from this series (it's all in Japanese, no subs), but it is fun to watch to see how much we've learned so far. Episode 1 は　やさしです、でも　おもしろくて　たのしいです。

週末は　たいへんでした。My computer got a virus on Friday and OIT won't be done with it until tuesday so getting work done (especially on all my papers and a powerpoint due tuesday) has been hard.

スカベンジャーハント！

こにちわ！　金曜日に　日本ごのじゅうぎょうは　スカベンジャーハントを　しました。おもしろくて、　たのしかったです！でも、ちょっと　さむかったですね。私のグルプは　オシャナシに　いきました。

グレトホールに　クリスマスツリーに　ありました。たてもの中にあって、つまらなくないものです。そして、とても　きれいですね。　：）

イエスさまは　大きくて、ちゃいろくて、りっぱなものです！

オシャナシのオフィスに　日本ごの本に　あります。

それから、　ビピホールに　いきました。ともだちのへやに　さかなに　あります。さかなは　小さくて、しずかです。なまいは　レオナイダス。

私の週末

週末は　とても　いそがしかったです。ノートルダムに　りょうしん　きました！金曜日に　ごご　しちじはんから　くじはんぐらいまで　りょうしんと　ボーイフレンドは　サッカーゲームに　いきました。とても　さむかったですね。　でも、よかったです。　かちました！　そのあと、りょうしんと　ともだちは　JWChen’sに　ばんごはんを　たべに　いきました。それから、　ダンカンホールで　ビデオを　みました。ビデオは　たのしくて　おもしろかったです。にじはんごろ　ねました。しちじかんぐらい　ねました。土曜日のあさ、　せんたくを　して、そうじを　しました。学生かいかんで　ひるごはんを　たべました。そのあと、ボンドホールの　まえで　マーチングバンドの　コンサートが　ありました。スタジアムで　フットボールゲームを　みました。ゲームは　とても　かなしくて　たいへんでした。それから、いちじかんぐらい　きょうかいに　いきました。きょう、　へやで　たくさん　べんきょうして、さんじかん　としょかんで　アルバイトを　しました。

Hana Kimi!

きのうのばん、　J-Dramaを　みました。おなまいは　花ざかりの君たちへ　イケメン　パラダイス　（For You In Full Blossom: Ikemen Paradise) 。おもしろいです。そして、　とても　たのしいドラマですね~

Hana Kimi is an awesome show (if based on a slightly crazy idea). It's about a Japanese-American girl who falls in love with a Japanese high jumper and enrolls in an all-boys school in Japan so she can be with him. So it's about keeping her cover and helping the boy begin high-jumping again after an accident. The school is known for its good looking boys, and the show is absolutely hilarious. Anyway, it's kind of different from the manga but is still very cute, I highly recommend it. Plus the theme song is done by Orange Range! :)

わたしの あきやすみ！

すいようびに　ニューヨークで　ライオンキングを　みました。　すきなディズニービデオは　ライオンキングです！　ライオンキングは　とても　きれい　と　りっぱですよ！　そして、　Madame Toussaud's Wax Museumに　いきました。　ブッシュを　みました。:P　Ellen's Stardust Dinerで　ばんごはんを　たべました。　きゅうじ(waiters) は　うたう(sing)！　

anyway, I had a lot of fun this break in New York City, I've wanted to see the Lion King for so long! other than that it's been a lot of relaxing and sleeping, it took a lot of effort to pull up this blog page and start doing homework. :P

わたしの へや

わたしの　りょうは　ビピです。ビピは　ふるい　たてものです。あたらしくありません　でも　きれいです。わたしの　へやは　ちいさいです。わたしの　テレビも　とても　ちいさいです。　：（ 　わたしの　へやは　たいてい　きれいです、でも　ときどき　きたないです。わたしの　デスクは　いつも　とても　きたない。あそこに　ほんが　あります。デスクで　べん きょしません。

きんようびの　さんじごろ　へやに　かえりました。そして　ジョギングを　しました。でも　JACCで pep rallyに　しませんでした。DBRTで　Wantedを　はちじはんに　みました。えーと。。。いちじはんごろ　ねました。きのうの　じゅうじごろ　おきました。Duncanで　しゅくだいを　しました。そして、　スタジアムで　フットボールを　みました。ソウスダイニングハルで　ばんごはんを　たべました。BPで　Enemy at the Gatesを　みました。きょのあさ、じゅうじに　きょうかいに　いきました。あさごはんを　たべました。Domer Doggy Walkで　いぬを　いきました。いぬわ　かわいいですね！こんばん、としょかんで　にほんごと　ぶんがく　しゅくだいを　します。そして　ほんを　よみます。そして、　しゃわを　あびます。

haha, my weekend was pretty boring, but I guess low-key weekends are good sometimes. And I had a good time petting dogs today on south quad, so it wasn't a complete waste. :P

わたしの にち！

まいあさ、きゅじごろ　おきます。シヤワーを　あびます。あさごはんを　たべません。きゅうじはんに　じゅぎょうに　いきます。じゅういちじはんごろ　ソウスダイニングハル（south dining hall)で　ひるごはんを　たべます。ひる　じゅぎょうが　あります。にじよんじゅうごふんに　へやに　かえります。へやで　しゅくだいを　します　と　べんきょうします。ろくじごろ　ばんごはんを　たべます。にちようびと　かようびと　もくようび　としょかんで　かせげる。ときどき　テレビを　みません。たいてい　いちじに　ねます。ときどき　しゅうまつ　もって　ともだちえいがを　みます。

haha, I don't even want to know how much of this is wrong, but it took me a while to type so I'm going to leave it at that. I'm definitely anxious to learn more though, there was a lot I wanted to add that I just didn't know how to say (and was afraid of abusing, heh).

First Post?!

はじめまして。ロオラです。どうぞよろしく。わたしはノトルダムだいがのにねんせいのがくせいです。アメリカジンです。コネチカットのダンブリからきました。せんこうわはきしとにほんごです。

Hey everyone,

I’ve always been interested in Asian culture because of my half-Chinese heritage- probably the highlight of kindergarten through third grade was my mom’s Chinese New Year puppet shows using Sesame Street characters. My family has been in the US for long enough though that being Chinese was never an important part of my life…which is probably why I’m choosing to take Japanese over Chinese. -__-;

So embarrassingly enough it was Yu-Gi-Oh! that got me into Japanese culture (I have nothing to say about this other than that you have no idea how incredibly addicting that show is), though cartoons were and still are more or less the only shows that I watch on TV. From there I branched out into Hayao Miyazaki and his amazing amazing movies. I’m slightly ashamed to say that the first one I saw was Howl’s Moving Castle, but I was absolutely hooked on Miyazaki’s movies from that day on. Since then I’ve watched quite a few anime series, a couple of dramas, and have become addicted to Japanese pop and rock music—though really, I love listening to any kind of foreign music. Gradually this interest in pop culture led me to want to learn as much about Japanese culture and history as possible.

The class is going pretty smoothly for me so far, though my biggest challenge is in reading and comprehension, my brain kind of just shuts down when it sees long strings of hiragana. Anyway, I’m really excited to be (finally!) learning the language!
